50th Week, 2022

Two weeks sat between us and the new year, but we did not rush the moment. We ate together, swapped stories, and let children rehearse skits they swore would be “even better in January.” Plates scraped clean; someone led a short prayer for safe journeys home; the afternoon light thinned over corrugated roofs.
2023, we promised ourselves, would not be a quiet repeat. Our Entertainment team is shaping an ETCO Cultural Music and Dance programme alongside wider art activities — spaces where children can channel energy into rhythm and colour instead of trouble. Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum keeps asking for evidence of talent; we want Kibera’s children to walk into class with portfolios, not excuses.
Closing the year, opening the next
None of that happens without you — the givers who kept beans in the pot when December felt expensive. Stay close; the new programmes will need instruments, costumes, patient instructors, and the same stubborn hope we brought to this fiftieth week.

Easter Feeding Program
Thanks to Tim Ruff and Stephanie, ETCO hosted a warm Easter Friday feeding program for children at our new office—bringing joy, a good meal, and community together in Kibera.

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
