Compassion is a blessing

After fire tears through Silanga in Nyayo Highrise Ward, Lang’ata Constituency, the ground smells wrong for days — soot, wet ash, plastic that melted and hardened again. Families stand in what used to be a room and try to remember where the bed was.
On this day, ETCO carried something simple and urgent: ladies’ clothes — folded donations from people who saw the news and refused to scroll past. There is a particular humility in handing someone a dress when she has lost everything else; it says, you are still seen.
Sizes were checked quickly, respectfully — not a fashion show, a survival task. A clean kitenge can mean a job interview that still happens, a church service without shame, a night with dignity when the mattress is borrowed and the floor is cold.
We are grateful to donors who think in bundles, not headlines — who clear a wardrobe, buy an extra kitenge, pack shoes that still have mileage. Kindness travels far when someone coordinates the last mile.
If you have walked through ash yourself, you know what a single bag of decent clothes can unlock: school attendance, a neighbour’s dignity, the courage to start again without feeling like a beggar in your own story. The ground still smells wrong — but clean fabric helps a person stand straighter.
If you have something worth giving — clothes, bedding, utensils — reach out. We can help match what you have with the next family who wakes up to a floor full of sky.

Happy Father's Day
As a man. It's Okay to start all over again. Let someone love you correctly, genuinely, value you and respectfully if they have to. Somewhere in your 30s, 40s or 50s, you'll get the opportunity to rebuild your life after a negative loop. It's important you see that journey through. Keep going and don't ever give up. Strong.
