Deeper Focus into Nairobi Dam Conservation Project

Walking the edges of Nairobi Dam, you remember that environment is not a poster — it is water that should not smell like regret, channels that should not choke with plastic before rain. In Kibera and the wards around us, ETCO is taking environmental work seriously, with our eyes on the dam and its tributaries, because what happens upstream walks through our doors downstream.
It heartens us to see Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) putting facilities and focus toward restoring the dam. Collince sat with Mr Kevin Oloitiptip, Officer in Charge of Environment at NMS in Kibra, to go deeper — where work has started on one of the dam’s tributaries, how locals are incorporated, and what still needs allies who will stay past the launch speech.
One dam, many neighbours
Restoration is not a single agency’s trophy; it is shared ground. We are trying to bring in all relevant stakeholders — youth groups, women’s tables, faith leaders, anyone tired of watching waste win. If your organization works on water, waste, or climate in Nairobi, introduce yourself — we are building a wider table for this dam.

Easter Feeding Program
Thanks to Tim Ruff and Stephanie, ETCO hosted a warm Easter Friday feeding program for children at our new office—bringing joy, a good meal, and community together in Kibera.

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
