ETCO Cyber Furnishing + Children Feeding Program

Saturday smelled like rice and beans — steam lifting from big pots, children’s voices stacking on top of each other outside the kitchen — while indoors, another kind of work was happening. Shelves went up. Cables were tucked neatly. A cyber space was taking shape, piece by piece.
ETCO believes talent should meet opportunity, not luck. Job creation, small business ideas, and care for the environment sit high on the list — not as buzzwords, but as weekly choices about where time and money go.
Outside, a child balanced a plate with both hands, sauce threatening the rim; inside, someone measured a desk and smiled because the next email sent from this room might be a job application written without begging for favours.
Feeding children, wiring a future
The cyber furnishing is donor-backed, and the plan is clear: when doors open fully, hire qualified people from the community to run it. That is how a room of computers becomes a pathway — CVs typed without travelling across town, forms filled without paying someone unkind at an internet café.
Meanwhile, the feeding numbers keep growing. For now, Saturdays mean rice and beans — honest food, served hot. We are honest too: a rotating menu needs a steady sponsor. Until that comes, we give what we have, and the children eat like it is a feast.
If you want to fund a month of githeri days, ugali days, or fruit on the side, reach out — your M-PESA can turn into plates that do not lie about what community care looks like.

Easter Feeding Program
Thanks to Tim Ruff and Stephanie, ETCO hosted a warm Easter Friday feeding program for children at our new office—bringing joy, a good meal, and community together in Kibera.

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
