Motivation Sunday

Sunday in Kibera has its own sound — chapati oil sizzling, gospel leaking from a speaker two doors down, football commentary from a phone on a windowsill. On this Sunday, the youth gathered with an extra reason to listen: Alex Chamwada, CEO of Chams Media, had come to talk.
He did not stay tucked inside one corner. He started at M'Baba Restaurant, then walked — past the bustle of business, past curious faces, into ETCO’s office, and over to Silanga Fitness Centre, still very much a work in progress, where sweat and ambition share the same small square of floor.
Phones came out for photos, then went away again — people wanted to listen with their eyes up. A Sunday like this costs time in traffic and comfort; choosing Kibera anyway says something about what leadership can look like when it is curious instead of performative.
The conversation was practical: career paths, passion, what it means to keep showing up when the path is not straight. Young people asked real questions — not theatre for cameras — and Chamwada answered like someone who remembers what it feels like to start with little besides stubborn hope.
There was laughter too — running, jumping, enjoying the neighbourhood in plain daylight. Sometimes joy is not a banquet table in a hotel downtown; it is a stranger choosing your streets, your stories, your pace.
Many of us first learned his voice through shows like Daring Abroad, Usirika, and The Chamwada Report — stories that made other corners of the world feel closer. Thank you, Chams, for spending a Sunday where the microphones are not always invited — and for reminding young people that their next chapter can be written from right here.

Happy Father's Day
As a man. It's Okay to start all over again. Let someone love you correctly, genuinely, value you and respectfully if they have to. Somewhere in your 30s, 40s or 50s, you'll get the opportunity to rebuild your life after a negative loop. It's important you see that journey through. Keep going and don't ever give up. Strong.
