Visitors

Morning light slants across the stairs at the ETCO office in Soweto East, and someone new is crossing the threshold — a neighbour from another ward, a friend from town, or a traveller who crossed an ocean with a duffel of supplies and a shy smile. In Swahili we say mgeni njoo, mwenyeji apone: the visitor comes so the host can be healed. It is not empty hospitality; it names what actually happens when a room fills with fresh energy, honest questions, and shared purpose.
We believe visitors are a blessing. They bring laughter up the stairs, sharpen our plans with what they notice, and sometimes arrive with parcels that stretch a tight budget — maize, soap, notebooks, whatever fits in a sack and in the heart. We are glad for guests from across Nairobi and from beyond Kenya, because Kibera’s story is not written only here; it travels in pockets, prayer chains, and group chats around the world.
Come as you are
If you have been thinking about visiting ETCO — to learn, to volunteer for a day, or to bring something concrete — reach out. We will share an honest picture of the work and a warm cup of tea while we do it.

Easter Feeding Program
Thanks to Tim Ruff and Stephanie, ETCO hosted a warm Easter Friday feeding program for children at our new office—bringing joy, a good meal, and community together in Kibera.

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
