Holiday impact - in Nyayo Highrise Ward

Public holidays in Nairobi often mean braai smoke in Karen and traffic jams out of town. In Nyayo Highrise Ward, Tujiamini SportPesa chose a different itinerary — trees, water, and children's plates — alongside ETCO.
Early arrivals carried seedlings like fragile arguments for the future — roots still wrapped in black polythene, soil crumbs on polished shoes.
We planted along Nairobi Dam and Canaan Estate, hands in soil that will outlive our budgets. We cleared and sensitised stretches of the Ngong River system in Zone 2, unclogging channels that choke when rains come hard.
The day held grief too: a moment to remember lives lost to floods and storms linked to how we treat land and climate. Commemoration is not drama; it is naming neighbours we miss while we still have breath to plant.
By afternoon, more than 450 children ate through the Saturday programme; food drives reached 520 families. SportPesa's support was not only figures — it was permission to dream bigger for Nyayo Highrise.
Parents balanced parcels on hips while dodging puddles; teenagers who usually act too cool carried sacks anyway because hunger humbles everyone the same way.
Evening light caught the new leaves — small, brave flags against a skyline that has watched too many fires.
If your company wants a holiday that leaves mud under fingernails and hope in bellies, partner with us for the next ward day. We will trade branded tents for shovels and receipts communities can eat.

Ngong River Regeneration Network - Zone (1-6)
The Ngong River Regeneration Network Zone Coordinators (Zones 1–6) held a productive meeting with the Commissioners representing the Ngong River, chaired by Commissioner Benjamin Langwen, alongside Commissioners John Kioli and Dr. Loice Jepkemboi Kipkiror, together with Inspector Ashford - NRC Secretariat. The meeting was highly engaging and inspiring, leaving us even more energized and committed to advancing the river restoration agenda. Together, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to not only regenerating our rivers, but also promoting a cleaner environment, encouraging food production through downstream farming, and creating sustainable job opportunities through riverine activities. #NgongRiverRestoration #NairobiRivers #EnvironmentalConservation #RiverRegeneration #ClimateAction #CommunityEmpowerment #GreenJobs

World Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration
In celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, ETCO, in partnership with Rotary Club of Nairobi Connect and with support from the Safaricom Foundation, today donated 900 sanitary towels to girls at Joash Olum Primary School. This initiative was aimed at supporting the girl child by promoting menstrual dignity, boosting confidence, and helping keep girls in school so they can stay focused on their education and future careers.

Kikuyu Rotary Club Team site visit - partnership
It was a pleasure hosting the Nairobi Rotary Club Connect’s Yumbya Nyamai, who also represented Ecologists Without Borders (EcoWB), alongside the Kikuyu Rotary Club Presidents—past, current, and incoming—George Ngotho, Patrick, and Marion respectively. We truly appreciated your visit to the site and your interest in the upcoming waste management project.
