Sharing is fun

There is a particular sound when a child realises the plate in front of them is truly theirs — not borrowed, not promised — and the spoon moves faster.
Our feeding programme exists because food insecurity is not a headline here; it is a Tuesday. Nutritious meals buy time for growth, for attention, for the small lessons that happen when a child is not distracted by hunger.
You notice it in the body: shoulders drop, eyes lift, a joke lands because nobody is calculating the price of the next meal mid‑laugh.
Sharing is fun because it breaks isolation. A volunteer jokes; a neighbour serves; dignity stops being a lecture and becomes a portion.
We are not claiming we solve every problem with a plate. We are claiming that starting with food makes the rest of the day possible — homework, play, hope.
On Saturdays, sharing is also logistics: who carries water, who stirs longest, who notices the child hanging back and walks over with a smile first, food second.
Fun sounds light. Here it is also discipline — the discipline of returning, of not making hunger a private shame, of letting a child feel normal for an hour.
Join us — bring a morning, bring a bag of maize, bring your name to the list.

Easter Feeding Program

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
