Amazing week...!!!

The sun is already high over Kibera when the first children drift in, plastic bowls in hand. Someone has lit the jiko; the smell of githeri mixes with dust and laughter, and for a moment the lane feels wider than it is.
This is our Saturday feeding programme — not a handout line, but a gathering. Plates go round. Someone teases a shy child until she grins. A volunteer bends low to explain a sum on a scrap of paper while steam rises from the sufuria.
The week feels “amazing” when the smallest things hold: a second helping for a teenager who is growing fast, a quiet word to a caregiver who has not slept, a borrowed pen that returns at the end of the day.
When we say it has been an amazing week, we mean the ordinary miracle of it: bellies fuller, voices braver, adults and children sharing the same patch of shade. The work is simple on paper — cook, serve, listen — and deep in practice.
It is not perfect. Sometimes the rain arrives before the tarp is tied. Sometimes the numbers surprise us and we have to stretch. But the joy is real — the kind that comes from doing something useful together.
If you have ever wanted to be part of something that feels immediately real, this is it. Walk with us on a Saturday: volunteer, partner, or send support through M-PESA so we can keep the fire going and the portions honest.
Bring comfortable shoes. Bring curiosity. Leave with your hands smelling like smoke and your chest a little fuller — that is the kind of “amazing” we mean.

Easter Feeding Program
Thanks to Tim Ruff and Stephanie, ETCO hosted a warm Easter Friday feeding program for children at our new office—bringing joy, a good meal, and community together in Kibera.

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
