Call for Youths Business Training

Posters went up on plywood and WhatsApp the same afternoon — short sentences, big hope. ETCO and the African Initiative for Rural Development are running a business training for young people in Kibera: employability skills first, then a pathway toward placements in the hospitality sector, where a uniform can mean rent paid on time.
If you are tired of guessing how interviews work, or how to speak about your strengths without feeling like you are bragging, this is your door. We keep groups small so facilitators can see faces, not only numbers, and so nobody has to pretend they already know what a CV is supposed to look like.
Slots are limited — not to exclude, but because quality training needs chairs, time, and follow-up. Send an SMS to 0711 785664 to register or ask questions. If the line is busy, try again; our team answers between field visits and school runs, and a missed call is not a closed door.
Bring a pen, an honest CV if you have one, and your punctuality — that still counts for more than people admit. Wear shoes you can walk in; some days we move between rooms faster than slides.
Kibera’s lanes do not forgive lateness; buses leave, interviews close, and rain turns appointments into excuses. We start on time because respect travels both directions.
We cannot promise everyone a job in one week; we can promise straight talk, useful templates, and a community that keeps showing up — and a phone number you can save under “next step,” not “maybe someday.”

Easter Feeding Program
Thanks to Tim Ruff and Stephanie, ETCO hosted a warm Easter Friday feeding program for children at our new office—bringing joy, a good meal, and community together in Kibera.

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
