Climate Change Resilience

The 'Climate Worx Mtaani' initiative is a year-long program expected to employ at least 20,000 youths across Nairobi's three main rivers: Ngong, Nairobi, and Mathare. Through this initiative, ETCO and the Ngong River Regeneration Network are not only fighting the harmful effects of climate change but also addressing the pressing issue of unemployment among youth. By engaging young people in meaningful work to restore river ecosystems, the program fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility for the environment, creating a ripple effect of positive change. ETCO’s commitment to this cause reflects its broader mission of community empowerment and environmental stewardship, ensuring a healthier and cleaner future for all.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Following the heavy rains in Nairobi, several families in Kibera, especially those living along the riparian areas, were affected by floods. Sadly, lives were lost and many households lost or had their properties destroyed after storm waters swept through their homes. ETCO – Empower The Community is appealing to well-wishers and partners to support the affected families with food, clothing, bedding, medical support, financial and other basic needs. We also urge everyone to stay safe during this rainy season by avoiding crossing strong flowing waters and keeping away from stagnant or unfamiliar water to prevent accidents and waterborne diseases. Any support will be highly appreciated. PayPal: etcodonate@gmail.com
