Rays of hope & tough economic times

It had been a bruising week — roads blocked, shops shuttered early, parents calculating whether fare or food would win. Children notice when voices rise at home; they eat in silence sometimes.
Saturday at ETCO is for children and the elderly: softer portions, easy chewing, a place to sit without being rushed. Lately the numbers have climbed — not dramatically on a spreadsheet, but visibly in the queue, where adults stand beside children in equal measure.
We are honest: we cannot promise a fix for the economy. We can promise a hot meal, dignity in the asking, and volunteers who remember names.
Thank you to everyone who has sent money, maize, time — you are why the pots still boil. If you want to join as a monthly supporter, volunteer, or partner, start at etco-kenya.org; we will show you exactly what your KSh buys.

Easter Feeding Program
Thanks to Tim Ruff and Stephanie, ETCO hosted a warm Easter Friday feeding program for children at our new office—bringing joy, a good meal, and community together in Kibera.

ETCO's Kibera Slums Tour
We thank Tim Ruff and Stephanie for joining ETCO’s Slum Tour in Kibera—walking with us, listening to residents, and experiencing the strength and reality of our community firsthand.

FLOOD SUPPORT APPEAL – KIBERA
Heavy rains brought flooding to Kibera’s riparian areas—destroying homes, claiming lives, and leaving families in urgent need. ETCO appeals to well-wishers for food, clothing, bedding, medical support, and other basics, while urging everyone to stay safe around fast water and contamination risks.
