Week 13 - Children Feeding Program

Cold season crept in — morning mist on corrugated roofs, children in sweaters with elbows worn shiny. The feeding programme did not pause for weather; hunger does not check the forecast, and Saturdays stay fixed on the calendar even when the air stings and breath shows white for a second before vanishing.
What moves us is trust earned in weeks: a child arriving because she knows Saturday at ETCO means something — maybe a lesson, maybe a song, maybe a life skill slipped inside a game — and always something warm to eat before she walks home through air that bites her ears, scarf tugged tight, sandals slapping stone.
We are grateful to donors, sponsors, and partners who keep the fire lit and the accounting honest. Cold hands still reach for spoons because your support translates into sacks and stoves — not applause, but lunch, counted bowl by bowl, Saturday after Saturday.
Someone blew on their fingers before wrapping them around a metal mug of tea — small heat held between palms. Children compared sweaters, trading jokes about whose grandmother knits tighter, whose cuffs still scratch, whose colour faded first.
Trust shows up as routine: the same day, the same doorway, adults who remember names even when uniforms change. If you want to fund a month of Saturdays, ask us for a simple budget; we will break it down to the shilling, line by line, because cold mornings deserve honest numbers and children deserve to plan on warmth they can count.

Ngong River Regeneration Network - Zone (1-6)
The Ngong River Regeneration Network Zone Coordinators (Zones 1–6) held a productive meeting with the Commissioners representing the Ngong River, chaired by Commissioner Benjamin Langwen, alongside Commissioners John Kioli and Dr. Loice Jepkemboi Kipkiror, together with Inspector Ashford - NRC Secretariat. The meeting was highly engaging and inspiring, leaving us even more energized and committed to advancing the river restoration agenda. Together, we reaffirmed our shared commitment to not only regenerating our rivers, but also promoting a cleaner environment, encouraging food production through downstream farming, and creating sustainable job opportunities through riverine activities. #NgongRiverRestoration #NairobiRivers #EnvironmentalConservation #RiverRegeneration #ClimateAction #CommunityEmpowerment #GreenJobs

World Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration
In celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, ETCO, in partnership with Rotary Club of Nairobi Connect and with support from the Safaricom Foundation, today donated 900 sanitary towels to girls at Joash Olum Primary School. This initiative was aimed at supporting the girl child by promoting menstrual dignity, boosting confidence, and helping keep girls in school so they can stay focused on their education and future careers.

Kikuyu Rotary Club Team site visit - partnership
It was a pleasure hosting the Nairobi Rotary Club Connect’s Yumbya Nyamai, who also represented Ecologists Without Borders (EcoWB), alongside the Kikuyu Rotary Club Presidents—past, current, and incoming—George Ngotho, Patrick, and Marion respectively. We truly appreciated your visit to the site and your interest in the upcoming waste management project.
