Climate Change Resilience
Through Ngong River Regeneration Network Zone 2, ETCO supports the Climate Resilience Service Programme (Climate Worx Mtaani)—equipping youth cohorts with skills, tools, and guidance to restore the river and build sustainable environmental practices.
Nairobi Dam Waste Impact Tour
Led by NRC Chair Dr. Pamela Olet, commissioners and partners—including SMEDI and ETCO CEO Collince Onyango—toured Nairobi Dam and key tributaries to confront escalating waste pollution, after Dr. Olet flagged off Climate Worx Mtaani at the Kibra DC office.
A good day for Githeri (Traditional Nutritious Meal)
Every Saturday, ETCO serves Githeri—a nourishing mix of maize and beans—to children, youth, and elders in Kibera, part of a feeding programme that now reaches more than 350 children with support from donors and partners.
World Rivers Day 2 - Mathare
ETCO joined communities along the Mathare and River Line areas for World Rivers Day—sharing knowledge, strengthening ties, and learning together about protecting urban rivers.

During World Rivers Day in Mathare, ETCO represented the Ngong River Regeneration Network Zone 2—sharing the community roadmap for cleaner rivers and stronger riparian stewardship.
Dirty Hands, clean environment
ETCO joined a tree-planting and environmental learning event at Olympic High School with the Karen Forte Foundation, alongside Nairobi County leadership, calling for local climate action and cleaner neighbourhoods.
Workshop focused on application of Nature-Based Solutions
ETCO joined UN-Habitat, ICLEI Africa, and KDI for a 3EP capacity workshop on Nature-Based Solutions, ecosystem-based adaptation, rights-based approaches, and participatory planning for Nairobi’s rivers.
Community Sensitization and March
More than 360 people—including some 70 children and 92 network groups—marched along the Ngong River in Kibera and Lang’ata to sensitise communities on regeneration plans and meaningful government partnership.
🌳 Community Walk/March Invitation 🌳
Ngong Rivers Regeneration Network Zone 2 invited Kibera and Lang’ata residents to a morning walk/march—raising awareness for clean, safe riparian spaces and climate resilience (groups asked to bring 20+ participants).
Voluntary Clean Up - Railways Estate Phase 3
Volunteers led a multi-day cleanup in Railways Estate Phase 3—collecting waste, securing sorting space, and engaging young people with daily stipends while ETCO works to unlock more funding.
Ngong Rivers Regeneration Network - Zone 2
Foundation of Hope and Ngong Rivers Zone 2—including ETCO—ran cleanup and sensitisation in Kiandaa village, Sarang’ombe Ward, with strong turnout and measurable waste removed from the river.
Site Visit, Meetings, Sensitization and Clean Up - Ngong River
ETCO hosted a major awareness and cleanup in Soweto East, Nyayo Highrise Ward, with county officials, Nairobi Rivers Commission, EcoWB, Power Engineers, PAKPRO, KDI, and community members—linking stewardship to safer rivers.
